April 20, 2008 - Annual Meeting To Be Held June 6th At The Harvard Club

It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the annual meeting of the Music Publishers´ Association of the United States, to be held at the Harvard Club, 35 West 44th Street in New York City, on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 10am to 5pm. Please note that for the first time in the history of the organization we are opening up registration to non-members.

We are very pleased to have Michael Rogers, the Practical Futurist, addressing our membership. One of the nation's leading experts on the impact of technology on business and society, he is Futurist-in-Residence for The New York Times Company, as well an interactive media pioneer, novelist and journalist. He also writes the popular Practical Futurist column for MSNBC. In his presentation, The Future of Content in a Digital World, he will be discussing intellectual property as it relates to current media.

After our morning session there will be a slideshow honoring the memory of Arnold Broido, Sandy Feldstein, and Lynn Sengstack. The three will be recognized with the first ever MPA Paul Revere Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Our luncheon session will include the announcement of the 2008 Paul Revere Awards winners, presented by Paul Sadowski of McGinnis and Marx Music Publishers. During the luncheon we will also hear from Marybeth Peters, where she will be presented with the first annual Arnold Broido Award for Copyright Advocacy. A frequent speaker on copyright issues, Ms. Peters is the United States Registrar of Copyrights.

The afternoon discussion panel What’s New, What’s Happening will once again be moderated by Frank J. Oteri. Panelists this year include Fred Koenigsberg, legal counsel to ASCAP; Gary L. Churgin, CEO and President of the Harry Fox Agency; and Craig Palmer, CEO and President of Gracenote. This promises to be a most exciting panel as we discuss recent developments in the music business, emerging technology, and copyright law.

At 4pm, immediately following the afternoon sessions, we invite you to a cocktail reception.

Questions and requests for registration forms can be directed to MPA administrator, Brittain Ashford, admin@mpa.org.

We hope to see you in June!
