2022 Paul Revere Award Winners

June 20, 2022

Tremendous thanks to all who submitted and congrats to our winners!

In addition to the Revere Awards, at our Annual Meeting the MPA recognized George Crumb for his remarkable contributions to music notation.

Crumb‘s handwritten manuscript scores, published by C. F. Peters, are instantly recognizable works of visual art which, while often highly innovative in their appearance, are readily comprehensible to musicians and are always in the service of his extraordinary music.

This year’s awards were overseen by Frank J. Oteri. Judging took place on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the offices of Wise Music Group.

We welcomed back engraving judges Ju-Ping Song, founder and artistic director of NakedEye Ensemble, and Ella M. Fredrickson, Principal Librarian of The Florida Orchestra.

Also returning, graphics judges were Nim Ben-Rueven, a freelance book and packaging designer who joins the judging for a seventh year in a row, and Emmanuel Wisdom, a lettering artist and graphic designer based in Philadelphia.

Additional judges were brought in to evaluate educational and percussion categories, Em Goldman and Ashley Baier, respectively.
